From Censorious Iran to Spirited San Francisco: Designer Gelareh Alam Makes a Name for Herself.
Playin ketchup! Ok so not new to fashionistas, but possibly to my baby ravers and space cadets, Christopher Kane has put some kooky next generation shit out on the runway. I believe, he predates Black Milk in the gratuitous use of galaxy prints. Unlike the nylon spandex variety, the print isn’t doing all the work in his clothing. He was the guy that made clothing with colourful liquid gels sealed in plastic. The liquid dresses […]
Not sure if Alessandra Marchi is still making clothes – the last collection online is Spring Summer 2012. I’ve seen some of her stuff in online stores, unfortunately way above my $100 price range :/
You had me at “sculpted cashmere.”
Getting my ass in gear for this weekends steampunk-themed Boomtown campout. Steampunk isn’t, you know, my shtick, but I have a hard time saying no to an opportunity to dress up in something crazy. I have a few outfits planned, hopefully I’ll actually get some pics of them. For inspo, here’s some corsetry by Christiane Tano. I’m putting my bets on 5 & Diamond carrying these at some point. I’ve seen at least 5 designers […]
Yet another step in Rosie’s parade of geometric dresses. I will def be making myself one of the neoprene Synthetic Oceans jumpsuits. Spanish designer Alba Prat was initially inspired by the original Tron – using laser cutting to create geometric patterns in neoprene, wool, leather, and cotton. Syn Chron is based on the synaesthetic art of Carsten Nicolai – who creates installations and sculptures based on visualizations of sounds. The jacquard print was a […]
This is such a ridiculously perfect collection it hurts my eyes. Just a little bit. Technically superb, cohesive, a variety of pieces for men AND women, prints, metallics, fit to perfection, with structure, asymmetry AND draping. Have to say though, between collections I’d like to see a wider variety of necklines from His Highness GP. I mean lord knows I love an asymmetric breasted jacket more than your average bear, but I know there’s […]
Obv. I’ve developed quite an obsession with insane geometric/3D clothing. Alessandra Verschueren graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, Belgium in 2009, along with working for Derek Lam and Proenza Schouler. She followed up by winning the (what seems to be pretty prestigious) Grand Jury Prize at the Festival d’Hyeres in 2010 with this collection. “Medium” she transforms fabric into paper through 3D architecture and orgimai folding, as well as by using […]
